Every full moon, howls echoed through Whispering Woods, sending shivers down the spines of all who heard them. Locals warned about a fearsome werewolf lurking in the forest. But 12-year-old Zoe, an aspiring hairstylist, wasn’t easily spooked.
One full moon night, Zoe heard whimpering coming from her backyard. Peeking out, she saw a large, furry creature tangled in her mom’s rosebush. It wasn’t howling – it was crying!
“Are you okay?” Zoe called out.
The creature looked up, revealing a wolf-like face framed by impossibly tangled fur. “No,” it sniffled. “I’m Walter the Werewolf, and I’m having a terrible hair day!”
Zoe couldn’t help but giggle. She approached Walter, who explained his dilemma. “Every full moon, my fur gets so tangled I can barely move. That’s why I howl – it’s not to scare anyone, it’s a cry for help!”
“Why don’t you just get a haircut?” Zoe asked.
Walter looked embarrassed. “Werewolves are supposed to be scary. If the other monsters found out I got a trim, they’d laugh at me!”
Zoe had an idea. “What if I give you a stylish haircut that’s still wild and wolfish?”
Walter agreed, and Zoe got to work. She trimmed, styled, and even added some cool blue streaks to Walter’s fur. When she finished, Walter looked in the mirror and howled with joy.
“I look fantastic!” he exclaimed. “And I can move freely!”
From then on, Zoe became the official stylist for Walter and his monster friends. Vampires came for slick backs, zombies for mohawks, and even the Loch Ness Monster surfaced for a seaweed deep condition.
The howls that now echoed through Whispering Woods were howls of laughter and joy. And if sometimes the creatures looked a bit too well-groomed to be scary… well, that was just the price of being fashionable!
