High up in the night sky lived a little star named Sparkle. All the other stars twinkled brightly, but no matter how hard Sparkle tried, she couldn’t make herself shine.
“Maybe I’m not cut out to be a star,” Sparkle sighed one night.
Just then, she heard a small voice. “Hello up there! Can you help me?”
Sparkle looked down and saw a little girl in her bedroom, trying to fall asleep.
“I’m scared of the dark,” the girl said. “Can you shine a light for me?”
Sparkle wanted to help, but she didn’t know how. Still, she had to try. She concentrated hard, thinking about how much she wanted to help the little girl.
Suddenly, Sparkle felt warm inside. A soft glow began to spread from her center, growing brighter and brighter.
The little girl gasped in delight. “Look at you shine! You’re the brightest star I’ve ever seen!”
Sparkle was amazed. She wasn’t twinkling like the other stars, but she was glowing with a steady, comforting light.
From that night on, Sparkle became known as the Nightlight Star. Children everywhere would look for her constant, soothing glow when they felt scared at night.
Sparkle realized that she didn’t need to twinkle to be special. Her own unique way of shining was just as important.
As you close your eyes tonight, remember that like Sparkle, you don’t have to be like everyone else to be special. Your own unique light is what makes you shine bright!
