In a small town square stood a little pine tree named Pip. All year, Pip watched people rush by, dreaming of the day he’d be chosen as a Christmas tree.
As December arrived, larger, fuller trees were brought in and placed around the square. Families came to choose their perfect Christmas tree, but no one seemed to notice little Pip.
“Maybe I’m too small,” Pip thought sadly. “Or not green enough.”
Days passed, and one by one, the other trees were chosen and taken home. Soon, it was Christmas Eve, and Pip stood alone in the square.
Just then, a gust of wind blew a piece of paper against Pip’s branches. It was a letter to Santa from a little girl named Lucy:
“Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a tree. It doesn’t have to be big or fancy. Just a little tree to make our home feel festive. Love, Lucy.”
Pip’s branches tingled with excitement. Could this be his chance?
Late that night, Santa’s sleigh landed in the square. Santa read Lucy’s letter and looked around, his eyes twinkling when he saw Pip.
“Well, hello there!” Santa said warmly. “Would you like to be Lucy’s Christmas tree?”
Pip’s branches quivered with joy. “Oh yes, please!”
Santa gently uprooted Pip and placed him in a pot. Then, with a sprinkle of magic dust, they flew off to Lucy’s house.
Lucy woke up on Christmas morning to find Pip in her living room, decorated with twinkling lights and shiny ornaments. She clapped her hands in delight.
“My very own Christmas tree!” she exclaimed. “It’s perfect!”
Lucy and her family gathered around Pip, singing carols and exchanging gifts. Pip had never felt so happy or important.
When the holidays were over, instead of being discarded, Pip was planted in Lucy’s backyard. Year after year, he grew taller and fuller, but he was always invited inside for Christmas.
And every year, Pip and Lucy would remember that sometimes the best gifts come in small packages, and that with a little love and care, wonderful things can grow.
As you drift off to sleep, think about the joy of unexpected gifts and the magic of growth. Like Pip, you too can bring happiness, no matter your size. Sweet dreams, and may your Christmas be merry and bright!
