Pip was a colorful parrot who lived in a pet shop. He loved to talk, but he had one problem – he didn’t know how to be polite.
One day, a little girl named Lucy came to the shop. Pip squawked, “I want a cracker!”
Lucy giggled, “You’re funny, but you forgot to say please!”
Pip tilted his head, confused. “Please? What’s that?”
Lucy spent the afternoon teaching Pip about “please,” “thank you,” and “you’re welcome.” Pip practiced all day long.
The next morning, when the shop owner came in, Pip cheerfully said, “Good morning! May I please have a cracker? Thank you!”
The owner was so impressed that he gave Pip extra treats. From then on, Pip was known as the politest parrot in town.
